FIRST FILTER WORKING The new filtration plant at Waitakere lias been completed and tests show that excellent results are possible, samples of the filtered water being clear and sparkling. The results will not be fully evident in the city for some time yet, and then only in the area served by Arch-hill and Ponsonby reservoirs. Early next week the contractors should complete adjustments at the Waitakare plant and their attention will then be directed to the Titirangi filters in connection with the Nihotapu supply. When this has been brought into full operation the Auckland water supply should lose its present dirty appearance-
