TAXIS REPLACE BUSES
COMMUNITY STEP MT. EDEN’S TRANSIT CLUB Pending the hearing of the Mount Eden Transit and Social Club’s appeal to the Transport Appeal Board, the seven buses running on the Mount Eden and Bominion Road routes were taken off the run yesterday. In the meantime, the club has arranged for a fleet of 19 taxicabs to carry on the service on these routes. A minimum fare of fourpence will be charged for the journey. The future policy of the club in connection with its service to Parnell Park has not yet been definitely decided, said Mr. H. Schmidt to-day. Buses would probably continue running, passengers being strictly restricted to club members, who would be asked to show their membership cards.
The cars would continue running on other routes, said Mr. Schmidt, and would eventually take over all routes.
