HEIFETZ

RETURN TO NEW ZEALAND Great interest centres in the appearance here at the Town liall on Thursday and Saturday. August 25 and 27, of the worldfamous violinist, Heifetz, who, when he last toured New Zealand created a furore of enthusiasm, and his concerts attracted record audiences. The present tour in Australia of Heifetz is proving a series of brilliant triumphs, the Heifetz town halls of Sydney and Melbourne proving far too small to accommodate the large number who endeavoured to obtain admission. Heifetz is without a doubt the greatest violinist in the world to-day, and critics in America recently acclaimed him as the best-known during the past decade. Many applications were received for extra concerts in Sydney, but they have been refused, as if these desires were met it would have been necessary to curtail the present New Zealand tour, which Messrs. J. and N. Tait were determined would not be interfered with. It is estimated that on the occasion of Heifetz’s previous visit to the Dominion, which had to be confined to the North Island, fully 20,000 people attended the recitals. Preferential bookings for the only two recitals to be presented here by Heifetz will be opened at Lewis R. Eadv and Son’s, Ltd. on Thursday August 11, at 9 o’clock. The price for preferential bookings will be los 9d. which includes tax.
