INQUEST ON DOCTOR’S DEATH
INDICATIONS OF POISON _ Press Association. DUNEDIN, Monday. ! The sudden death of Dr. Angus Mc- ! Pliaii Marshall was the subject of an j inquest which opened to-day. i At 11 o’clock last night medical as- | sistance was called in. but Dr. Mari shall died shortly after. Dr. Marshall Macdonald, who, with Dr. Jenkins, was summoned to Dr. Marshall’s residence, said that he had received a telephone message from Alexander Fleming Marshall, dental student, brother of deceased, tliat his brother had taken an overdose of poison. They applied the usual remedies but deceased’s heart failed suddenly, after about 20 minutes’ treatment. The facts statt ,*■ by deceased’s brother were consistent with the view that deceased had taken a large dose of poison. The inquest was adjourned. It is believed that deceased had just made arrangements to leave for Australia. He was V.D. officer and anaesthetist at Dunedin Hospital, and had had considerable war service. Ho was 34 years of age and married, with two children.
