SERVICE CAR LICENCES
OWNERS PERTURBED APPEAL COURT DECISION Press Association. GISBORNE. To -day. Motor service companies operating on the East Coast are alarmed at the outlook as a result of the decision of the Appeal Court, regarding the payment of licensing fees for service cars travelling up the Coast. Five licences xvill be required to Rotorua, nine to Tauranga. ten to Napier, and six if fees are enforced. It is considered that a number of services will be compelled to cease running-. A message from Wellington yesterday said that the full court dismissed the appeal of Dodson's Pioneer Motor Service against a conviction in the Magistrate's Court for picking up passengers at Stratford without having obtained a licence under that borough’s by-laws. The court held that the by-laws were neither invalid nor unreasonable. Costs. £lO 10s were allowed.
