TIMARU LIKES MILDRED GRAHAM
“MISS N.Z.” FINALISTS (Special to THE SUN.) TIMARU, To-day. “THE eyes of the Dominion are on you,” said the Mayor of Timaru, Mr. G. J. Wallace, in welcoming the 10 “Miss New Zealand” finalists at his home, “The Pines,” yesterday. They were splendid examples o£ the Dominion's young womanhood, Mr. Wallace continued. The oting at Timaru has not affected the order in the actual contest, but the town’s choice placed Miss Hildred Graham second only to Miss Otago (Miss Dale Austen). The order of the competition remains : First: Miss Dale Austen (“Miss Otago”). Second: Miss Vera Hodge (Maid of Honour to "Miss Otago”). Third: Miss Morgie Cameron (Maid of Honour to “Miss Southland"). Fourth: Miss Hazel Spiers (“Miss Wellington”). Fifth: Miss Winnie Tonkinson (“Miss Southland’’). Sixth: Miss Billie Andreasson (“Miss Auckland"). Seventh: Miss Hildred Graham (Maid of Honour to “Miss Auckland”). Eighth: Miss Leon McCall (“Miss Canterbury”). Ninth: Miss Pat. Smidt (Maid of Honour to “Miss Wellington ). Tenth: Miss Jane Kinsey (Maid of Honour to “Miss Canterbury ).
