AUCKLAND’S PORT
LEADS IN CARGO HANDLING TOTALS FOR LAST YEAR (THE SUN’S Parliament ary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. Monday. The Northern city continues to lead the way for cargo handled at the port. The Government Statistician, Mr. Malcolm Fraser, has announced that during 1926 the total cargo handled at the various ports throughout the Dominion amounted to 7,589,171 tons, ns compared with 7,389,487 tons for the previous year. Auckland. with 1.948,079 tons, continues to lead the way in the volume of cargo handled, Wellington coming next with 1,790,981 tons. These two ports together accounted for 49 per cent, of the total.
