c ir John Luke went South by the Limited last evening. Mr. G. Cornish arrived by the Maheno from Sydney this morning. The Rev. G. H. McNeur went South by the Limited last evening. Colonel Knott, of the Salvation Army, returned to Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. W. L>. Lysnar and Mr. E. D. McLennan, M.P.’s, left by train for Wellington last night. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, left by the express last evening for Napier. Mr. E. T. Spidey, Superintendent of Workshops, New Zealand Railways, arrived in Auckland from Wellington by the first express this morning.
Mr. L. A. Peterson, of Copenhagen, Denmark, arrived from Sydney on the Maheno and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Major H. P. Gray, of County Armagh. Ireland, a former aide-de-camp of the late Lord Kitchener, is staying at the Hotel Cargen.
Sir Joseph Ward, who has been confined to his home with a severe cold since his return from Australia, has now recovered and will resume his seat in the House to-morrow.
Lieutenant R- L. Cooney, of the Tank Corps, was a passenger on the Maheno from Sydney. lie has been stationed at Bangalore, India, and will spend a holiday in New Zealand before going to England. Mr. C. E. Carr, manager of the Auckland branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, has been promoted and transferred to Brisbane, where he will commence his duties in September. Mr. W. J. H.
