Lady Fenwick and Miss Fenwick, who have been staying with Mrs. Percival James, will leave this evening on their return to Dunedin. * * * Mr- and Mrs. J. Dumbleton are returning by the Port Hunter on Thursday from a visit to England. Mrs. R. C. Allen, of Morrinsville, accompanied by her small son, left last evening on a visit to Paihia, Bay of Islands. * * * Mrs. L. J. Pegler, who has been staVing at Hotel Stonehurst for several months, will leave for Honolulu by the Niagara to-day. ■* * * Miss Norma McCullough is sailing by the Niagara to-day on a visit to Canada. Miss Coldicutt, of Grafton, is spending a holiday at Helensville, and is staying at Hinemoa. Mrs. R. L. Paterson, of St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, will leave for Suva by the Niagara to-day. * * * Mrs. Vernon Reed left town last evening for a visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. G. Driemeyer, of St. Louis, U.S.A., have arrived in Auckland and are staying at the Grand Hotel. * * * At the Central Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. G. Rundle, of Sydney. * * * Guests at the Grand Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. J. Mac Neill, from Melbourne. * * * Mr. and Mrs. McKinley, of England, who are touring New Zealand, are at present at the Grand Hotel. * * * Visitors staying at the Central Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Barker, from Geraldine. At the Grand Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Raikes, of Rotorua. * * * Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Ninon, from Wellington, are staying at the Central Hotel. The Hon. Hope Morely and Lady Dorothy Morely, who have been staying at the Grand Hotel, are leaving by the Niagara to-day. * * * Visitors from the South staying at the Central Hotel include Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Teagle, of Lower Hutt. * * * Mrs. and Miss Mill, from Port Chalmers, are at the Grand Hotel. * * * At the Grand Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. Runnerstrum, from Wanganui. COMING-OF-AGE DANCE Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Renner gave a very enjoyable plain and fancy dress dance at their residence, “Muritai,” Herne Bay, on Saturday evening to celebrate the coming of age of their daughter. The ballroom was gaily decorated with bunting, streamers, Chinese lanterns. The music, being provided by an electrically controlled amplified gramophone, was perfect. Supper was served in the dining room, the colour scheme being mauve and violet, each lady receiving a posy of violets. Beautiful spring flowers adorned the drawing room and reception hall, wattle blossom being a striking feature. Mrs. Renner received her guests in a gold metal lace frock and blue shawl. Miss Renner wore a “powder puff” fancy dress. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Nisbet, Mrs. McGruar, Dr. and Mrs. Usher, Mr. and Mr 9. A. R. Townsend, Mr. and Airs. L. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. E. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Cox, Mr. and Mrs. W. Hurley, Misses Hedley, McKelvev, L. McGruar, R. McGruar, Court, Corringham, M. and R. Gifford and Anderson, Messrs. Anderson, Lind Mitchell, Minliinnick, G. Wilson, Gifford, Hutcheson, Thorpe, Adams, Ross, Fenwick, Corringham, Frankham and Simonson. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Miss Edna Mae Milne, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Milne, Opua, Bay of Islands, to Mr. William John (Sam) Rule, of the railways head office, Wellington, second son of Mrs. E. Rule, Oneralii.
