ON THE 'CHANGE
MARKET GENERALLY IDLE COALS IN GOOD TONE Coals provide practically the only ray of brightness to the ’Change. Business is most depressed, and the speculative element is almost absent. Hikurangis were recorded yesterday afternoon at 6s 6d, and the market for this scrip continues firm. Pukemiros have improved to see buyers offering £3. Gas are also in good tone, though there is little tendency to meet sellers’ ideas of value. Mining is particularly depressed and inactive. Even for Waihis this morning there was a difference of Is between buyers and sellers. Bonds and debentures are also quiet, and fewer quotations are recorded.
