HIS MAJESTY’S
“POLLY WITH A PAST” The amusing comedy of errors, “Polly With a Past,” by Guy Bolton and George Middleton, provides Miss Renee Kelly at His Majesty’s Theatre with an excellent vehicle for a display of her talents as a mistress of light comedy. Of course, Pole's fi. %; was really not as serious as the title would have us believe; in fact, it did not exist except in bold imagination; but Polly had no difficulty in demonsrating that it is not necessary to have a damaged reputation to be able to impersonate a demi-mondaine. As a. happy audience was quick to appreciate last evening Miss Kelly has an admirable sense of comedy values, and a delightful stage appearance. She received excellent support from the majority of the competent company. Mr. Ronald Ward, as the artless callow youth in the story, gave almost a perfect performance. Mr. Hylton Allen, as the wise uncle who knows the foolish world, also delights the audience. And we must not forget to mention everybody’s favourite, Miss Emma Temple, who adorns every part, she undertakes, whether it be a light one, or only a thinking part. The bright comedy will be presented for the last time in Auckland this evening. +
