Sir Hugh Denison, Commissioner fur Australia in the United States, addressing the Canadian Club, counselled Canada to follow the immigration policy of Australia and not the United States, to ensure virile Nordic racial stock. He quoted Dr. Lontrop Stoddart, in saying that Western Canada and Australia were the last countries left for the expansion of the white race. Sir Hugh Denison said that during his tour of the United States he was appalled at the hordes of Southern Europeans, living in packed communities in European stylo, and not assimilating different customs, despite the fact that Northern Europeans proved the best elements of civilisation. —A. and N.Z.
