TARANAKI DAIRYMEN
MEETING AT HAWERA DON’T WANT UNION HAWERA, To-day. An important conference of South Taranaki dairy factory managers has just been held to consider the question of forming a factory managers’ union. Twenty-two South Taranaki district managers were present. Mr. Fulton addressed the meeting, explaining that it had been called as a result of complaints from various factory managers In the province regarding the treatment they had received from companies. In the course of a long address Air. Fulton instanced the success of the Otago Dairy Factory Managers' Union and at the conclusion of the address a motion was carried; "That this meeting of dairy factory managers
expresses its disapproval of the formation of a union, and that the Factory Managers’ Association, which represents 95 per cent, of the managers in Taranaki, does not wish to be allied to any trade union, or similar organisation.”
