MONTHLY RETURNS
SATISFACTORY FLAX-GRADING Satisfactory Flax-Grading Returns.— Figures for the hemp graded at the port of Auckland for the month of July, 1927, show a considerable increase over the corresponding period for last year. Several mills closed down during the month, but it is expected that, given fe.vourable weather, the season will be in full swing again before the end of the month The returns for the month are as follow, those for the corresponding period of last year being given in parentheses: Hemp,—lo bales good fair; 150 bales of high fair; 453 low' fair; 217 common; 29 bales rejected; total, 859 (558). Tow.—loo bales first grade; 119 bales second grade; 82 bales third grade; 18 bales condemned; total. 319 (228). Stripper Slips.—B bales second grade, one condemned; total, 9 (8). Stripper Tow. grade; 26 bales third grade; one condemned; total, 72 (nil).
