The well-known millionaire motorcar manufacturer, Mr. Henry Ford, is celebrating hi s 64thbirht mbmn vkwn troit to-day. Mr. Ford announces that a new model car will shortly take the place of the famous model T, of which 15,000,000 have been constructed in the last 19 years. The salaries paid by the Ford concern to workers in that period totalled £394,000,000 and the materials purchased throughout the world were valued at £973.200,000.—A. and N.Z. Henry Ford was born at Greenfield near Detroit, Michigan, on July 30, 1863. At the age of 15, becoming tired of farm woik, he went to learn engineering and later worked for the Edison Illuminating Company. Meanwhile he tried to nro--2" de ~ motor-car, and by 1892 had his first model running. He kept improving a ? d in l? 98 induced capitalists to aid him by putting small sums into his modest business.
