“BIBLE IN PRISON BUT NOT IN SCHOOL”
SERMON AT ST. MARY’S While Bibles were supplied to prisons, Bibles were shut out of < schools. This trenchant remark was made ! last evening at St. Mary’s Cathedral, ; Parnell, by the Archbishop, the Most ; Rev. A. W. Averill. The service was attended by members of the Auckland University ! College Students’ Christian Union. ; The Archbishop said he believed the ; Christian Students’ movement was the ■ redeeming feature in educational life. ! It was easy for men to believe in God ; and yet not trust Him. Nations and ; individuals who tried to live without j God must eventually come under His ■ inexorable rule. I There was a tendency to eliminate ] justice and brotherhood to-day in favour of commerce and industry. The ' Archbishop also spoke on the ques- ; tion of religious instruction to children.
