WAIKOKOWAI MINE

DEVELOPMENT DELAYED The recent spell of very wet weather has had a serious checking effect on operations of the Renown Collieries, Ltd., at Waikokowai, and actual mining work has ceased for two months. In the meantime the contracting work for laying out the long line and tunnelling is being conducted under very adverse conditions and progress is slow owing to continuous washouts of the newly-made areas. Until the weather conditions greatly improve good progress is impossible in the track construction, though the mine is ready for output.
