FAMOUS FLIERS ENTER A MYSTERY MACHINE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 12.40 p.m. LONDON, Friday. The most famous pilots in the land, including Hinkler, are competing today in a 540-mile air race for the King’s Prize. Twenty-seven machines entered, ranging from light airplanes with 30 h.p. engines to single-seater fighters capable of covering two and a-half miles a minute. Two women are competing—Mrs. Elliot Lynn and Lady Bailey. The mystery machine of the race is a tiny monoplane, capable of flying 170 miles an hour, flown by Captain Broad, the winner of last year’s race. The scratch man is Flight-Lieut. Pope.—A. and N.Z.
