English Trade Unions Bill. —The House of Commons agreed to the amendments made by the House of Lords to the Trade Disputes and Trades Unions Bill. —A. and N.Z.

Car On Fire.—The Ellerslie Fire Brigade was called out last evening at 9 p.m. to a burning motor-car. The car, which was a two-seater, was the property of Mr. Pysmith. It was not seriously damaged.

Sly Grog-Seller Fined. James Stewart Middleton, who keeps a confectionery business in Riddiford Street, Newtown, was fined £3O in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington, yesterday, on a charge sly grog-selling.—Press Association.

Gisborne Burglaries.—The premises °f Mr. A. E. Beddow, cabinetmaker, and Messrs. McKeague and Co., grocers, at Gisborne, were entered by burglars last night. So far as is known only some loose cash in the latter shop was taken.—Press Association.

I avilion Destroyed. —The Eastbourne Borough pavilion at Wellington, leased to Mr. A. F. Dustin, was destroyed oy fire last night. There was a high wind to fan the flames, and as Eastbourne is without water for firefighting, the local volunteer brigade used its chemical engine.—Press Association.

Helped To Burn School.—Two small tK’ys said to be “connected with the aison charges” preferred against lads who set alight to the Norman School, appeared at the Children’s Court this fiiorning. They were placed under sapervision of the Child Welfare Department for three years, and the stepmother instructed to take better care them.
