MOCK WAR IN THE AIR
VALUABLE LESSONS DEFENCE OF LONDON By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Thursday. A high-placed officer of the Air Force, in a review of the mimic aerial attack on London, says it must be remembered that the defensive system had been in operation for only two years and would not be completed for eight years. Actually only a quarter of the system was in existence, and it was extraordinary complicated and it required a long time to train men for the work. Although it was too early to draw any definite conclusions from the manoeuvres, it could be authoritatively stated that London would by no means have been destroyed, because many of the bombing planes which appeared over the city were technical casualties. The staff of the Air Force had learned a valuable lesson, which would aid them in the completion of the aerial defences of London. —A. and N.Z.
