COMEDIAN AND MOTOR SMASH Mr. Wilkie Bard, the comedian, was awarded £1,208 damages in the King’s Bench Division, London, in respect of his injuries sustained in a motor collision on the Brighton Road in March last year. The defendants in the action were Mr. F. C. Dart and Messrs. Pickford's, Ltd. Members of Mr. Bard’s party were awarded damages as follow: Mrs. Smith, £44 14s; Mr. Boyle. £64 18s; Mrs. Boyle, £43 19s; Miss Peers, £lOl 11s 6d. Mr. Justice Horridge said that it was an odd coincidence that Mr. Bard s trouble was stid to have started just five weeks after he had suffered this accident. It had been suggested that he had broken out into drink since i the accident, but there was no evidence at all of this.
