OLD-TIMERS MEET AT THAMES JUBILEE

CROWDS ARRIVE BY ROAD, RAIL AND SEA. HOME, SWEET HOME THAMES, To-day. Celebrations in connection with the Thames Jubilee commenced to-day and large crowds poured into the town from all parts of the province. The arrivals came by sea, road and rail, and many more are expected. About 300 landed from the Rangitoto from Auckland, including many early Thames settlers. The band of the sth Hrmraki Regiment met the vessel at the wharf and played such appropriate airs as “Home, Sweet Home,’’ and “Auld Lang Syne,” which started responsive singing. Crowds thronged every approach to the wharf. To-day tine weather prevails and the town is gay with bunting and greenery. Crowds till tbe streets and a most cordial spirit everywhere prevails. __________________
