CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS PARTY
FUNCTION AT ST. GEORGE’S SOME ORIGINAL COSTUMES A highly successful children's fancy dress party arranged by the St. George’s branch of the Girls* Friendly Society and the Sunday School teachers was 'given in the parish hall last evening. About SO children dressed in original and colourful costumes took part in a grand parade. The patron saint of the church, St. George, was there resplendent in his armour, and the frills and quaint costuming of ladies of the Victorian age were seen dancing with “Brasso,” “Danger Signals" and Golliwogs in a medley of happy incongruity. A Dutch dance was cleverly performed by Miss Keesing, to be followed bv a recitation by Aliss Baddock entitled ‘How Grandma danced the Alinuet.” After supper prizes were distributed by Canon McFarland. Judging of the dresses was carried out by Airs. McFarland, Mrs. Brennsnd and Miss Taylor. Following are the prize-winners:—The Misses Morrison, “Black Cat": Davey, “Danger Signals ’; Basset, “Dolly Varden”; Davey, "Flower Girl”: Watson, “Frost”; Willis, “Knitting Bag”: Masters Farrelly, “Sir Walter Raleigh”; Poole, “Champion Flour”: Wells, “St. George”; Blackwell, THE SUN; Walters, “Pirate”; Armshaw, "Knight of the Bath”; Warren. “Baker’s Man.''
