DEMAND FOR DAIRY CATTLE
In all parts of the province, where good cattle are available, dairymen are prepared to pay high prices. In the Hauraki Plains district the demand is particularly keen. Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons report three recent sales as follow: Forty cows on account of E. A. Clark made to £l6 15s and average slightly over £9. An exceptionally good herd of tested cows on account of L. J. Hopping made to £l9, and averaged £l2. Each cow was tested and the herd, generally, was considered one of the best down that way. Another tested herd on account of Williams Bros, averaged £9 8s and made to £lB 10s. When it is realised that these averages take in the money received for unsound cows, it is seen that the sales were most successful, and the demand must have been keen.
