MAORI WAR VETERAN
DEATH OF MR. J. SINTON A veteran of the Maori War and an old resident of Auckland, Mr. John Sinton, has died at the age of 72. Born in Jedburgh, Scotland, Mr. Sinton came to New Zealand in the ship Kaniad. and saw considerable service in the Maori War. For a time he was engaged as a shipwright with the firm of Henderson and Spraggon, and for many years was employed by the McGregor Steamship Company, which was afterwards absorbed by the Northern Steamship Company. Mr. Sinton is survived by his wife, three sons, Mr. J. Sinton. Dunedin, Mr. G. Sinton, Hobsonville. Mr. W. Sinton, Auckland, and two daughters, Mrs. M. Morris, Auckland, and Mrs. Watson, Birkenhead. There are 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
