BOWLING TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW
The folio-wing teams will represent Dominion Road in inter-club matches tomorrow:— Against Mount Albert.—At Dominion Road: Ferguson. A. Chappell, Winks, Coupland: F. C. Taylor, Virtue, D. Richardson, Kelly. At Mount Albert: Bathgate, Jessop, Winthrop, Blair; Speir, Trewin, S. E. Chappell, Brown. The final of the winter tournament will be played to-morrow, commencing at 1.30 between Campbell, Mackay, Cater. Soantlebury (Auckland), and Sharkey. Carstens, Goodall, Benson (Dominion Road). MOUNT ALBERT CLUB The following teams will represent Mount Albert in inter-club matches tomorrow : Against Dominion Road.—At Dominion Road: Stuart, Hills, Warrett; Dann; Pickens, Nisbet, Stevens, The home teams will be picked on the green. MOUNT EDEN CLUB The following teams will represent Mount Eden in an inter-club match with Grry Lynn to-morrow:—Spence, Dignan, Daisley, A. Nairn; Hayman, Bailey, Joll, Middleton; Gregson, Campbell, Hull, Hudson. GREY LYNN CLUB The following rinks will represent Grey Lynn in inter-club matches to-morrow;— Against Mount Eden, at Mount Eden. —Armstrong, Lye, Bennett, Tonge; Hawke, McElroy, T. Walker, C. Little; Laing, S. Thomas, J. Reed. Curtis. At Grey Lynn: Jim Preston, Teague. Blamires. Whittle; Bull, Goldsmith, H. Reed, Mclvor, Joe Preston, Collen, Warneford, Clements. In spite of the wet weather on Wednesday, the Grey Lynn Club held a very successful pairs tournament. Fourteen pairs took part. Following are the principal results:—R. Drummond and A. Parsons, 5 wins; F. Hawke and L. Binns. 4 wins, 1 loss; Avery and McMahon, 3 wins, 2 losses; J. Garlick and J. Thomas. 3 wins, 2 losses; Collin and Mclvor, 3 wins, 2 losses; Somers and Wakerly, 3 wins, 2 losses. Drummond and Parsons won the tournament.
Devonport Club Prizes The Devonport Bowling Club held a smoke concert in the Masonic Hall, Devonport, last evening, when the annual presentation of prizes was made by Mr. J. W. Hardley, president of the Dominion Bowling Association. Mr. H. S. W. King, president of the club, presided. The guests included Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devonport. Mr. J. Pascoe presented Messrs. Frater, Blair, Richards and George with a shield and a certificate for having won the Dominion first-year championship, and congratulated the club on its second success in the competition. Mr. J. W. Hayden, ex-president of the Takapuna Bowling Club, presented the club with the Marine Pennant, this being the second year this club has won the tournament. Trophies were presented as follows: Club Competitions.—Club championship: F. Layzell; runner-up, F. Sullivan. Junior championship: E. S. Andrew; runner-up, C. Newman. Handicap singles: T. E. Gooding; runner-up, A. Rowell. Second-year championship: F. T. Gill. Montgomery bowl: R. Broughton; runner-up, T. Wrigley. Champion pairs: C. S. Hamlin and A. Rowell; run-ners-up, R. N. Melville and J. Morgan. Handicap pairs: F. W. Connell and W. Newbegin; runners-up, S. Wrigley and L. C. H. Sparrow. Percentage fours: D. G. Thornton, F. W. Connell, C. S. Hamlin, J. Morgan. Club Tournaments. —Labour Day: Murphy, Fraer, W. Bailey, Sparrow. January 1: George, Naylor, Lacey, Blackburn. January 3: McGregor, Fulljames, W. Bailey, Trayes. January 29: Kennings, Fulljames, Bartley, Lowe. Good Friday: Elmsley, Layzell. Easter Saturday: Coleman, Watson. June 3: Chapman, Dickens, Melville, Elvey. Various toasts were honoured. Selections were played by the Devonport Orphans’ Club Orchestra, and items were given by Messrs. Jones, Sweet, Eyre and Raynor.
