EX-WORLD’S CHAMPION BOXER DEAD
FREDDY WELSH PASSES By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Thursday. Freddy Welsh, former light-weight boxing champion of the world, was found dead in a hotel room to-day. Death was due to heart failure. —A. and N.Z. Freddy Welsh, a great fighter in his day, recently met with ill-luck. His £40,000 health farm in New Jersey was foreclosed, and this practically bankrupted the old champion. A friend of Welsh, who had raised £9,000 to save the place, dropped dead of heart disease after phoning Welsh he had secured the money for him.
