H. G. WELLS’S LATEST
NOVEL CALLED “MEANWHILE"’ GOVERNMENT - ATTACKED By Cable.—-Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Wednesday. The long-expected novel from the pen of Mr. H. G. Wells based on the great strike in Britain last year has been published. It is entitled “Meanwhile.” The book suggests that the Government deliberately fostered the strike in order to win the next general election and that it tried to persuade soldiers and sailors to club and shoot down strikers. The hero, Philip Rylands, gives voice to odious insinuations against everyone who does not hold the social, political and economic opinions of the author.—A. and N.Z.
