BODY LUNGING The act of struggling with the golf club when you are hitting at the ball is not confined to the back swing wholly. It can be in both halves of the swing and, if the player schools himself to take things easy in the back swing, he can still ruin his stroke by struggling with the club when he swings forward. Pressing takes place in the forward swing aitogether, and the first evidence of a struggle to hit the ball hard will be a lunging of the body. This tightens up the forward swing to such extent that the player will next dip his entire body downward because he unconsciously senses that things are going to smash near the ball unless he makes room somehow for the club to get through. In the easy practice swing all these things are avoided, and they are as well avoided in the real swing.
