AMATEUR ATHLETICS
CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING ON AUGUST 13 The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club will hold a big sports meeting at Alexandra Park on August 13. The chief event will be the five-mile steeplechase championship of Auckland, followed by running, jumping, cycling, novelty and ladies’ events. The 50-mile road cycling race for the championship of the Auckland Province is to be run the same day also. The race will start at Alexandra Park with a run out of 25 miles to Clevedon, thence back to Epsom, finishing down the straight of the trotting track. Nominations for the events close on August 6.
