LIBRARY LECTURES

REMUERA The Rev. James Barr will deliver the first lecture of his New Zealand tour at the Remuera Library Hall on Friday, July 29. Mr. Barr, who is a member of the British House of Commons, is widely famed for his oratprical skill, and he excels when his subjects are of Scottish interest. The subject he lias chosen for this lecture is “Scotland in Story, Song- and Scenery,” and this will afford him an opportunity to display the talents which have earned for him a world-wide reputation as a lecturer. A fine series of lantern slides illustrative of the scenery and history of Scotland will be shown, and musical numbers will be rendered by Mrs. I>. McLaren and Mr. W. Gemmell. Miss Lillian Braithwaite, L.A.8., is the accompanist. The lecture, which is being given under the auspices of the St. Andrew’s Society, will be presided over by the president, Mr. J. Barr Paterson.
