OLD MAN JAZZ
TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT Old Man Jazz will hold sway in the Auckland Town Hall to-night as he never did before. To the music of the Regent’s Band, specially augmented by special permission of J. C. Williamson Films, Ltd., for this occaion, Auckland’s first National Festival will be inaugurated. Mr. Albert Goldie, the director, who has had considerable experience in the management of such concerns, has been fortunate in securing the assistance of Madame Edith Baird. Madame is presenting a Drury Lane spectacle, which is on an unparalleled scale as far as this city is concerned. No fewer than 150 dancers will participate in this feature of the ball. There will also be 200 of Auckland’s prettiest girls in the Pageant of Beauty. Bizarre decorations are being arranged by the Art School • students, while the South Sea Islands phantasy will be another decidedly original note. Tickets are still available at Eadv’s. It is anticipated that the Pageant Ball will be the most spectacular gathering that Aucklanders have seen for some considerable time.
