LATECOMERS

The annoyance caused by latecomers at theatres and concerts is apparently not confined to Auckland alone. At a recent recital given by Kreisler at the Albert Hall it is reported that the nuisance was particularly bad. It is stated that although it was a Royal performance there were so many late-comers that Kreisler, whose first item was Mendelssohn’s Concerto in E Minor, had to wait nearly five minutes between the allegro and andante movements. This was described as a source of undue annoyance both to Kreisler and to their Majesties, the Queen having a particular liking for the beautiful second movement of this work.
