FLOUR-MILLER DEAD

LATE MR. ROBERT BYCROFT Mr. Robert Bycroft died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Crawford, Fitzroy Street, Papatoetoe, on Monday, at the age of 77. Born in the old windmill at Epsom (which has been in operation since 1847) Mr Bycroft was a son of the late Mr. John Bycroft, who founded the firm of Bycrofts, Ltd., flourmillers and biscuit manufacturers. Entering the office of his father as a cleric Mr. Bycroft later became interested in flaxmilling. Prior to his marriage in 1894 to Miss Emmeline Froude, he spent a year at Norfolk Island as a missionary of the Methodist Church. He was a lay reader for many years. Retiring from flaxmilling about ten years ago, Mr. Bycroft lived at Onehunga, but went to live with his daughter at Papatoetoe about three years ago. Mrs. Bycroft survives her husband. The funeral took place at the Otahuhu cemetery this morning.
