GIRLS’ HOCKEY

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE At the ordinary meeting of the executive committee of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association, Miss P. H. Dawson presided. Mangatoi Club was granted permission to withdraw its application for affiliation provided it affiliated with the Te Puke Association. The following registrations were approved:—University (Miss N. Rapson), Y.W.C.A. (Misses A. Muskett, E. Stuart), Somerville (Misses P. Malloy, M. Bullians, Scott, Somerville), Mount Eden Juniors (Miss L. McCartney). Training College Club’s application for rearrangement of senior grade games, games now set down for August 20 and 27, to be interchanged with those games for August 6 and 13, was approved, provided that games made to fall on August 20 and 27 were played off before the College teams went on vacation. Matters pertaining to the sending of a team to the New Zealand tournament were discussed at some length, and arrangements were made whereby it was hoped that sufficient money could be raised to finance any Auckland City girls chosen as members of the provincial team. It was thought likely that the personnel of the team would be announced within the next week. Some doubt was expressed as to any of the country week collegiate team players being available should they be required in this connection.
