Arthur has been looking out a selection of lantern slides of many “old-timers” from his collection, and it is on the cards that he will show them for the benefit of members of the Ponsonby Cruising Club in the near future. WEEK-END WORK All hands took advantage of the fine week-end to continue the good work on their boats. The various haulingout sites presented quite a busy appearance and as a result there remains much less burning-off, painting and cleaning up to be done. STALLS AT WINTER SHOW The Akarana Yacht Club and the Takapuna Boating Club both have stalls at the Winter Exhibition, and to judge from the crowds that are patronising them each day the enterprise of these clubs is reaping its own reward. KNOTS AND SPLICES There has been a keen demand for sets of the three illustrated articles on •Knotting and Splicing,” published “At the Sign of the Pennant” a few weeks ago. Yachtsmen, scouts and guides have all visited THE SUN office. There are still some left, however, for those who have not yet obtained a copy of Keelson's instructive feature. VISITOR FROM TAURANGA The commodore of the Tauranga Club, Mr. Maltby, who owns Vanity, is at present in Auckland, and took the opportunity, during the week-end, of visiting the slipways at Freeman’s Bay, and having a chat with the busy workers at their boats. He saw much to interest him. DOINGS OF THE WEEK There has been quite a big programme of social and other yachting fixtures during the past week. In addition to the Point Chevalier Sailing Club’s prize night on Wednesday there was the Ponsonby Cruising Club’s dance at Point Erin Kiosk on the same night. On Friday night Mr. A. N. Breckon and Mr. Adams showed a most entertaining series of lantern slides of famous boats and beauty spots familiar to all yachtsmen. Saturday night, usually the gay night of the week, saw the New Zealand Yacht and Power Boat Association’s dance and the Victoria Cruising Club’s benefit concert to the clubhouse captain, Mr. A. Tupp, in the Town Hall.
