HUNTLY BAND
BENEFIT CONCERT (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) HUNTLY, To-day. The Huntly Silver Band, assisted by local artists, save a very pleasing sacred concert in the Town Hall on Sunday night. The programme was chosen with taste, and a good audience resulted. Mr. W. C. E. George, chairman of the town board, presided, and incidentally referred to the objects of the performance, viz., to reduce the liability of the band for instruments purchased. and unemployment relief. Money for the latter object will be most acceptable, as there are many men on the local body’s books out of employment at present. The board participates in all functions for the benefit of the unemployed on a subsidy basis, and no doubt the available moneys will be expended in connection with the formation of a proposed recreation area.
Voluntary helpers aided in taking up a collection, which represented a goodly sum for the purposes mentioned.
