BOISTEROUS WEATHER

SCHOONER DRAGS ANCHOR STORM IN HARBOUR T'HE boisterous weather which prevailed at Auckland yester- | day interfered with cargo opera* tions on the waterfront, with the result that the sailing of all vessels was delayed. i When the storm increased in the afternoon rough seas in the harbour caused the Northern Company’s new auxiliary schooner Hauturu. which had arrived from England, to drag her anchor. The vessel, which was waiting to have pratique granted, drifted between Prince’s and Queen’s Wharf, where the anchor again took effect. Later the tug Te Awhina arrived and towed the schooner to her berth at Central Wharf. Meanwhile the Harbour Board’s piledriver No. 2 had dragged her moorings at Devonport. and the Te Awhina had to go over there and tow the pile-driver to a sheltered position on the west side of Prince’s Wharf.
