AUCKLAND CLUB’S TRIBUTE LATE MR. C. F. MARK Before proceeding with general business at a meeting of the committee of the Auckland Trotting Club, the president, Mr. John Rowe, alluded in feeling terms to the sudden passing of the late secretary, Mr. C. F. Mark. The loss, not only to the club, but to trotting generally throughout the Dominion, was a severe one, said the chairman, who proceeded to outline the many good services rendered to the cause of the light harness sport by the deceased gentleman. Mr. Rowe also spoke in eulogistic strain of the sterling qualities and characteristics of the late Mr. Mark, as a sportsman and a citizen. The remarks of the president were endorsed by several members, there being a concurrence of opinion that the high standard attained by trotting in the Auckland Province was due in a large measure to the energy and ability of the late secretary. A motion of condolence with the widow and family was passed, the members standing.
