A WHANGAREI WEDDING
A very pretty wedding', and one of much local interest, was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Whangarei on July 20, between George Arthur North, son of Mr. J. North, North Street. and Nita Isabel Partington, second daughter of Mr. R. A. Partington, Second Avenue. The Rev. G. W. Lochore officiated. The church was beautifully decorated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful frock of cream panne velvet in semi-Victorian style. She wore a cream hat and silver shoes, and carried a sheaf of white flowers and maiden-hair fern, with cream ribbon streamers.
The bridesmaid, Miss Ivy Amoore, was tastefully frocked in mauve chenille georgette, with black hat and silver shoes. Her bouquet was composed of mauve and pale pink sweet peas and asparagus fern, with mauve streamers.
Mr. Ivan North carried out the duties of best man.
Mrs. Partington, mother of the bride, wore black corded silk and black nat, and carried a posy of violets. Mrs. North, the bridegroom’s mother, was attired in fawn and blue repp. She also carried violets.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the Friendy Societies’ Hall, where about 40 guests w r ere entertained. Toasts wei'e honoured and good -wishes extended to the newlymarried couple, who are well and favourably known.
Mr. and Mrs. North left later by express, amid showers of confetti. The bride’s travelling costume was fawn tweed. Their future home will be in Remuera.
