“SPEED MAD!”
MOTORIST MUST SLOW DOWN LICENCE SUSPENDED (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. “This man is speed-mad. Whenever he gets into town he goes at a very excessive rate.” THUS Mr. Loughnan, who appeared for the Christchurch City Council against J. H. Clinton, who was charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-day with speeding in Ferry Road. “A conservative estimate on this occasion was 35 miles an hour, and he accelerated when accosted by the traffic inspector.” continued the prosecuting counsel. The car, according to Mr. Loughnan, belonged to Clinton’s wife, who was annoyed with him for taking it. and had since sold it.
Clinton was fined £5. with costs, and his licence suspended for 12 months.
