OLD MAN JAZZ

PAGEANT FESTIVAL BALL To herald the approach of spring, and, incidentally, Auckland’s first National .Festival, a ball has been organised to take place in the Town Hall on Thursday night. The Pageant Bail promises to be something entirely new for Auckland. Ballets, for instance, are being arranged on a scale hitherto unprecedented. Over 20 Oof the city’s prettiest girls will take part in the pageant of beauty, which will be one of the features of the ball. Madame Edith Baird, the well-known teacher of dancing, is collaborating with the organiser, Mr. Albert Goldie, and will be responsible for the Drury Bane spectacle. At least 150 trained dancers will participate in this feature under the direction of Madame Baird. In addition there will be 20 Samoan dancers in the South Sea Islands phantasy, another important part of the ball. Miss Lillian O’Leary will also present an Empire display, and Miss Dosae Stoddart will be in charge of another speciality. The Regent band, by special arrangements with J. C. IV illiamson s Films, Ltd., will be specially augmented for the occasion. Thursday night will be a night of jazz. Old Man Jazz will hold sway throughout the Town Hall. Tickets are on sale at Lewis R. Eady and Son, Ltd.
