NOTES The Wellington station 2YA will be on the air every night except Wednesday this week. The programmes indicate that 2YA is getting into its stride, for a high standard of talent has been engaged for the coming week. To-night the studio orchstra, a collection of well-known players, will give several items. Australian stations all have their own orchestras, but this is the first time the idea has been tried in New Zealand. Station 2GB Sydney was broadcasting a fine musical programme on Saturday night, relays of an orchestra being especially good There was very little static, but fading was bad at times. The Ponsonb.v Baptist Church Choir is to be broadcast from IYA to-night, and will give a number of choral items in addition to solos and duets by members. A cable from New York states that one of the General Electric Company’s low wave stations at Schenectady will broadcast a special two-hour programme for Australian and New Zealand listeners-in. The programme will consist of an address by the manager of the company’s broadcasting department, Mr. Rice, and orchestral selections and vocal items. The transmission will be from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. New Zealand time, on a wave length of 32 77 metres.
