THE PAGEANT BALL

JOYOUS JAZZ REVEL Two hundred of Auckland’s prettiest girls will take part in the glorious Pageant of Beauty, which has been arranged for the Pageant Ball at the Town Hall on Thursday night. Another important feature will be the Drury Lane spectacle for which Madame Edith Baird will be responsible. No fewer than 150 trained dancers will take part in this unique presentation. In addition there will be 20 Samoan dancers in the South Sea Islands phantasy. Miss Lillian O’Leary and Miss Dosae Stoddart will also participate in special displays. Music will be supplied by the Regent Band, which will be specially augmented, by courtesy of J. C. Williamson Films Ltd., for this occasion. The ball will herald the approach of Auckland’s National Festival in the spring, for which the director, Mr. Albert Goldie, is now organising.
