NORTHERN HERD-TESTING
MAUNGATUROTO AND WAIPU The report of Mr. H. B. Wallace, dairy farm instructor and herd-tester for the Maungaturoto and Waipu Dairy Companies for the season just ended is as follows:—During the season 1,537 cows were tested at an average cost of 1 8.02 per cow. The average cow gave 205.71 b. butter-fat in 178 days. MAUNGATUROTO SECTION The figures for the Maungaturoto section were as follow: The average cow gave 198.11 b. fat in 180 days. The best herd averaged 372.561 b. fat in 288 days. The wost herd averaged 116.671 b. fat in 149 days. The best cow gave 484.561 b. fat in 270 days. The worst cow gave 58,621 b. fat in 120 days. WAIPU SECTION The average cow gave 224.771 b. fat in 191 days. The best herd averaged 370.711 b. fat In 290 days. The worst herd averaged 113.041 b. fat in 169 days. The best cow gave 518.571 b. fat in 300 days. The worst cow gave GO.2lib. fat in 120 days. The breed of the two best cows was Jersey.
