WORK AT GISBORNE

SUPERB KING PLEASES GARZON JUMPS WELL (Special to THE SUN.) GISBORNE, Friday Thr acceptances for the first day of the G.R.C. meeting include 21 outside horses. Only two Aucklanders, however—Hoariri and Lady Arch—are included. Both these have arrived, and have accepted for the first day. Highway, with top weight for the Park Hurdles, has accepted, but it ia rumoured that the gelding is far from his best. There has been considerable activity on the track each morning this week, but work has been practically confined to local horses. AGAINST THE CLOCK Superb King. Rapiata and First Prince ran five furlongs in 1.3 2-3, Superb King finishing in front and appearing to do it easily. Master Damon, Kongo and L’Amour took a second longer to cover the same distance, the first two finishing easing up. Kongo w'ill be worth watching. Polytivious, with a companion, ran five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. Cherry Girl has come on nicely and goes fast, but may feel the winter weights. Birka jumped well and appears to be getting back to form. Garzon went twice round over the country and gave a good exhibition of jumping. Waioeka Jack gave him a lead for the first round, but was again inclined to shirk the double.
