NEW YORK RECORD

GRETA GARBO SUCCESS For the first time In the history of the Capitol, in New Y’ork, a picture was held there for four weeks, two weeks longer than any other screen effort. This film was “Flesh and the Devil,” with Greta Garbo and John Gilbert. The receipts for the four weeks were 248,98.70 dollars. The first week the Capiiol took in 71.446.95 dollars, the second week 61,059.80 dollars, the third week 59,760.85 dollars, and the fourth week 56.031.10 dollars. This is ample proof that good films can be held over for a longer time even in the big theatres.

No records were broken in the weekly receipts, although the first week came within 4,000 dollars of equalising the record receipts for seven days.
