BLACK JACK
STARS BUCK JONES Buck Jones had more than one show to take care of during the filming of the Fox production, “Blackjack.” Buck and his entire troupe were called on to participate in flood benefits sponsored by the American Legion in Bishop, California. Buck made most of the exterior shots in Lone Pine, at the base of Mount Whitney, but it was found necessary to move to Bishop for a few shots. The American Legion immediately solicited his aid to help put the city’s Mississippi flood quota over the top. Jones accepted and appeared in two benefits at the town theatre under the management of Mark Waterman, head of the Red Cross in Inyo county. The entire company worked in both benefits. Theodore Lorch, the “menace” of the Jones picture, was master of ceremonies. Others in the cast are Barbara Bennett, Sam Allen, Frank Lanning, Mark Hamilton, Murdock MacQuarrie and George Berrell. Orville Dull directed the production.
