TRAFFIC OUTLETS
QUESTION DEFERRED BELGIUM STREET SCHEME CITY councillors have deferred the question of providing additional traffic routes for another month. A recommendation from the Finance and Works Committee that a loan of £250,000 should be placed before the ratepayers for this purpose, was postponed consideration for a month. It was recommended, in connection with the Belgium Street scheme, that the work of continuing this street between Karaka Street and New North Road should be proceeded with: also that the building line in Belgium Street, between Karangahape Road and Karaka Street, should be set back with the object of providing for an 80ft. wide street. It was also suggested that the scheme for linking Day and Howe Streets, to relieve traffic in Karangahape Road, should be adopted.
