STEADY TRADE CHEAPER EGGS Quiet but steady trade is reported in the city auction marts. Supplies are mostly regulated from the cool store according to the demand but. though values tend to fluctuate with the changing weather conditions, there is generally an improved demand for citrus fruits. The Waipahi’s Cook Island shipment is now on the market, but, here again, little variation in prices can be looked for as the bulk of the parcel went into cool store. In the field and garden produce section inferior onions and pumpkins still continue a glut on the market. Most other seasonable lines are well supplied and values remain within easy reach of the average housewife. Eggs are making easier money and both hens’ and ducks’ sell from 2s 2d to 2s 4d a dozen. Farmers’ butter sells freely at from Is 2id to Is 3Jd a lb. In the poultry pens good cocks are coming forward in larger numbers, but a firm demand is maintained anu values remain practically unchanged. The demand for pullets is quieter. Heavy hens are in short supply and values tend to harden.
